just seen this post- hope you haven't gone already! Yes, I took my ten month old (then) dd a couple of months ago to visit family- my husband is from there. Had a lot of problems getting reliable advice about anti-malarials- will be easier with an 18 month old as he should be able to take malarone (we gave her Larium). She was very unhappy in the heat for the first few days- we went in Oct, although once she adjusted she was fine. I would suggest going in January or February as much cooler. Other than that no real problems- but I have been there many times before and stayed in my parent's holiday home there. Are you going on a package style holiday? Gambia is a great place and people are very friendly- but it is a third world country and not as organised and efficient as the UK, if you know what I mean...
