New Year Holiday

Nostrings457 · 12/03/2022 08:14

Last year Xmas & New Year was awful, the events led to the breakdown of my marriage.

I don’t want to be at home this year being reminded of last year. So my plan is to be at home Christmas Day (for Father Christmas etc) then go on holiday on Boxing Day or soon after with the DC ages between 5 and 10

Recommendations:
Destinations / specific hotels
Flight duration - not too fussed
Transfer time - under an hour
Kid friendly
Warm/hot - enough to be in pools / the sea

We have been away twice at this time of year: once ski ing, in Norway. It was lovely, but very expensive. I can't remember the name of the hotel but if you get the Inn Travel brochure, it was the only one in Geilo. Fantastic food. The second time we went to Sri Lanka. The weather was gorgeous, beach and sea were lovely. Unfortunately I can't recommend the hotel, Browns Beach, because it was really badly managed, to the point where it affected our stay.

Tenerife - Costa Adeje

Loads of family friendly hotels, 4 hours from UK, very short transfer time on arrival.

Serenity Fun City or Jungle Aqua Park in Egypt

We went to Orlando, stayed in one of the Universal hotels. It was brilliant, the parks weren’t too busy, it was warm enough to enjoy the water park, but not hot.

You’re definitely not a @cheapskatemum paying to go to Sri Lanka Grin Had never thought of there but it looks gorgeous. Expensive++ though

@Fivemoreminutes1 have seen mixed reviews about Egypt temps. We’re the pools warm enough to swim in?

Should have said we are going to the canaries in the summer so looking for elsewhere if poss

It was a good year, that year, we didn't have to count the pennies Smile

We go to Costa Adeje in Tenerife for New Year most years. Fab for children as there are always lots of families and New Year’s Eve there is brilliant.

@Nostrings457 Both hotels that I mentioned above have heated pools
