Men's dress code in Bahrain?

Hi, my son's about to travel to Bahrain, with friends, to attend the F1 race. Does anyone have any advice on dress code for him (he's 18)? Can he wear shorts? He's been told that shorts need to cover his knees.

Shorts are OK, but the longer the better. Trousers (or those 3/4 things) would be best, and some pos places won't let you in wearing shorts. Also be best to cover his shoulders.
Bahrain isn't really that fussed, but things are smoother if you cover up bit. DH used to wear knee length shorts, I (female) used to wear trousers and a short sleeved tshirt.
