Where are you going in Turkey? What board are you staying?
Generally everything is cheaper than in the UK but in Turkey, like anywhere, the cost of living has gone up in the last year.
We go to Turkey all the time and find it very reasonable though.

They are suffering from high inflation- I wouldn’t take any lira, I’d take sterling, euros or US dollars and they’ll probably be grateful for hard currency

There is no point in taking euros or dollars as you would lose out by exchanging twice.
Just take sterling and exchange out there or use the ATMs

My suggestion was to take hard currency and not exchange it there, just to use it. Even before the current inflation issues, many Turkish shops would show prices in lira and euros/GBP/USD. The OP might have euros or dollars at home already.
