City break like Barcelona or Nice

I am looking for suggestions for a city break. We really liked Barcelona and Nice/Monaco as you are coastal to chill out but within a bus journey or a few stops on the train to the city.

Can anyone suggest anywhere that may suit and give the city/coastal break we would like?

We've done Palma which was beautiful.

Loved Lyon but not coastal. Pisa? Bordeaux?

Valencia, Malaga, Lisbon, Porto are all lovely.

This is in the UK travel section, so do you want a weekend break like Barcelona without leaving the UK?

Marseille....i think the no.37 bus takes you to the Calonques....beach area..?.....used to visit a lot when friends had a flat there...and city not too big...walk all over easily.

The beach in Valencia is OK but it's a bit out of the main city area and there's not much going on around there. The city itself is lovely though.
Lisbon has everything you could possibly want from a city imo.
