Am I missing something... Barcelona?

We have booked flights to Barcelona for 8-13 February. I am now looking for a hotel, the prices as an example are £100pn for 7/8 Feb, then about £500pn for 9-12 Feb. Is there something big happening in Barcelona during that timeframe, or is it something as simple as a mid term holiday?

Is it football - big match at the Nou Camp or whatever it is?

Ah, The GSMA Mobile World Conference are expecting 52,000 visitors. It runs from the 11th to 14th of Feb, but I guess people might come a day or 2 early and hotel rooms in demand.

I stayed in the Pulitzer hotel - no idea of prices I'm afraid but was really nice and great location. Don't mean to be a spoilsport but we went in February and it was freezing. Wrap up warm

For anyone interested in future stays there, I found this on lonely planet website, very reasonable, only £235 for the 5 nights we need, whereas the other apartment link started at £450+
