Dh and I are looking for a holiday this year. Last year we picked somewhere ourselves whereas we would normally go on a recommendation. We didn't like the place we choose so I'm back looking for recommendations this year please!

We have 2 children ages 7 and 2. We are thinking of trying an All Inclusive holiday this year - not sure it's our thing but worth giving it a go once I believe.

We're probably looking at Europe really - previous destinations have been Italy, Greece, France and Canaries but wouldn't mind going back to any of them really (apart from Gran Canaria!)

So, where was your best family holiday? Resort and accomodation recommendations would be great!
CHEERS!!!!!

not my best holiday ever - but certainly great with the kids here

Brittany with Canvas. Spent 2 weeks in a caravan and loved it. Currenty live in Cyprus and would still choose caravan in France. Have also been to Gran Canaria and also wouldn't go back!!!

Wow, thanks for the quick response. It looks lovely - very posh! I'll be checking that out this evening after I've fed the masses

Can you tell me why it was so good?

For us it was good because the pools were very very safe, the beach went out 20 meters and still the water only came up to an adult thigh.
Great variety of eateries 2 italian, 3 different styles of traditional greek, pancake place, icecream parlour & Shops set round a fountain. At the weekend lots of greek families there at the harbour with their boats.

So even though the whole place is manufactured and not a traditional little village - to us it didn't feel tacky and horrid.

The Beaches you can access from the Porto Sani Village are not available to everyone - meaning they were quiet, clean and safe for the kids to run around.

Now if you want culture don't go there. But if you want a relaxing holiday with activities for the kids if you want it then there is lots on offer.

Sorry for the essay!!! HTH

Our best was the Viva Menorca Apartments 4* Cala N Bosch in Menorca.
We've been twice now and I would go again.

They are spotlessly clean inside and communal areas, safe for the children (pool even has a lifeguard), great daytime entertainment for the kids if you like that sort of thing, the resort if geared to calm with nice restaurants serving local produce, a smattering of shops and a few quiet bars.

First Choice do it and its fairly reasonable

thanks moss - initial reviews look good - might have to check that one out! I was actually looking at Menorca earlier today which is a bit wierd!

Anyone else?

ok, well if anyone is reading this for inspiration too I'll post mine on - and keep it bumped up for me in the meantime.

I think our best holiday was in Salou which is in the Costa Dorada or Spain.

We stayed at a hotel called the Golden Avenida which was ok (not the best hotel I've ever stayed in but not the worst either). The best thing was that the hotel rooms were apartments so you had all the facilities you need with kids with the added bonus of being in a hotel. The entertainment was ok - the food was fairly dire but you can be self catering there.

The best thing was the location and the amount there was to do here. We went for 11 nights and were anything but bored.

There is a water park nearby as well as the Port Aventura theme park (I think it's linked with Warner Bros - you can get a 2 day pass which is quite resonable). The town has a little harbour which has a nice little fair for the kids and lots of nice restaurants.

Another great day out was to Barcelona which is a little over an hour away I think I remember?!?! We got on the train and went for the day. Oh and we also did a one day trip to Andorra whilst we were here which is a tiny country between France and Spain which is tax free so everything is cheaper. Only trouble with this is it's in the mountains and my dd (who was 1.5 when we went) got altitude sickness and spent the ride home being sick!

There is also a town nearby that does bull fighting if thats your sort of thing but we didn't go.

Anyway, all in all - location wise it was brilliant and my top recommendation!

Hi sw. Turkey has lots of good AI's. We are trying Lykia World this year and it has lots going on for children.

We have been to Salou loads of times as the kids love Port Aventura. First went when oldest was 4, she is now 15 and still wants to go this year! I agree the location is great. Can get to Barcelona, Tarragona and the beach at Cap Salou is great The dc love staying at one of the P. Aventura hotels (although we usually go for a cheap break now, as have been so many times, so book a cheaper hotel )

Good luck x
