Majorca / Menorca end of August with dc?

It's coming in way cheaper than pretty much all other package holiday destinations. Not sure why - is it unbearably hot?

Dc are 10 and 7 and we are restricted to term time holidays so they all have expensive price tickets.

I'm finding Majorca / Menorca coming in the cheapest at around 1200-1400 total for a week.

Anyone enjoy either of these places with kids? Any recommendations of area?

We do some cultural type trips so this particular week just looking for sun, fun pools, nice beaches and a few pizza places or similar.

Last week of August is usually the cheapest of the summer holidays.
We loved Menorca with tiny children and Majorca with older ones. Lovely resorts in both places.

Menorca is great for little ones, I would say at 10 your oldest is getting a little too big for it. Loads of the cafes/bars/restaurants have great play areas but mainly geared at the slightly younger kids.
Majorca is probably going to be a bit better for the age of your kids, there's a bit more going on.
Having said that either will be great at that time of year.

If you go to Menorca do take a trip up El Toro for the view.

Oh this is really positive! Majorca seems to have more hotels with aqua parks which I think the kids will both want to spend most of their time in

We also contemplated Duinrell (Eurocamp - Netherlands) so weighing up across the two very different types of hokiday

We've started to regularly go to menorca we stay in the area of Cala N Forcat

Not a massive over crowded place but it's lovely, one strip with everything you need! Been with older and younger kids and it's brilliant. Have a harbour not far away so can be more up class an nice food or stay local and every bar has kids entertainment/ bouncy castles etc. Also a beach in a cove that does things to and boats etc and it's lovely!!
I'd recommend. We're going back beginning off September xx

Menorca is one of my favourite places in the world. It's safe, the people are friendly, the food is good, the sea is beautiful.
I have been at all stages of my life really
First time at 16 with my parents
Second time with my best friend at 18
Third time with my own DD when she was 14.
Bloody love it.

Campervan69 · 20/02/2022 20:54

I love both but they can be crowded in August. I prefer out of season really. The little cove beaches can get chock full at high season.

For families, Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia or Cala Dor are lovely resorts in Majorca.

We love the old town of Cuitadella in Menorca so usually stay at Santandria or Cala Blanca in Menorca so we can go into Cuitadella in the evenings.

Both are beautiful islands to holiday on.

Would also recommend Menorca with littleys. Dull for secondary up but lovely if all you want is a safe and quiet beach holiday.

I first went when I was 7 and we’re taking our DCs at 1 and 3 next summer. We always go to resorts within 15 mins of Cuitadella - my favourite is Cala Blanca.

We went to Majorca with our children and stayed in Cala D Or for a few years on the trot . Lots going on there ,lots of boat trips ,marina lots of bars and restaurants but not too noisy . Majorca is a beautiful island and worth hiring a car to go exploring..definitely my happy place when the children were young. Puerto Pollensa also a lovely resort but not as much to actually do there . Alcudia was too busy and a bit tacky .
End of August was when we always went …a bit cooler but still pool/ sea weather !

Duinrell is fantastic! But.... Weather is more like the UK, so I'd go to Majorca if I could.
