we have been away for almost 3 weeks, had meet and greet at airport by Purple Parking, when we left the car it had 211 miles worth of petrol in it, come to pick it up it had 102 left.

Going to phone customer services this afternoon as advised by pp when we picked the car up, 2 days ago, any sooner she said it would only go to answer phone.

has this happened to anyone else and any top tips?

There was something in the news about this happening for people using airport parking. I have attached a link to the BBC for your perusal. Good luck.

What about the milage on the clock.

Our car deisel readout (digital) goes up if we don a long motorway run and then dimishes at the speed of light on stop start trips.

Might not have driven it - could have syphoned off the petrol. Cheeky buggers.

nannyL · 02/01/2008 11:10

do you know WHERE they parked it?

some of these parking services simply drive the cars to random streets which may be miles and miles away

WendyWeber · 02/01/2008 11:29

How reliable is the petrol remaining indicator? Actual mileage would be better to hit them with.

I know some of these places do keep the cars miles away (but not 50 miles away I don't think!)

Was there not something on Watchdog about this?

Some of the cheeky gits were actually using people's cars as their own while they were away - one of them actually got a speeding ticket!!

Defo complain - let us know how you get on.

Would n't be the first time , where was it parked do you know ? Did you check the actual mileage as the calculation for petrol consumption may be based on recent mpg and if that includes being stuck in traffic or urban mileage it will skew it. Sometimes they go as far as Horsham to park, perhaps further if busy and for a longer period, and then it is left insecure.

sb6699 i saw that too
