Jersey or Isle of Wight with 4 year old?

Which would you recommend for child friendly activities/accommodation and weather? Just dc aged 4 and myself, during the Easter break. Thank you!

The Isle of Wight, hands down! There are so many attractions for a 4yo, several of which can be done even if it’s raining. There are a number of hotels and self catering complexes specifically marketed at families with young children, and nearly every pub or restaurant has a kids menu.

Jersey - only because of the weather. I've never been to the Isle of Wight when it hasn't rained. I guess IoW is better for kids and Jersey is better for adults.

I would say IOW too, very geared to family breaks. Lots of attractions and lovely beaches.

If your DC is like mine at 4 and loves dinosaurs, the Isle of Wight is a winner. Lots of child friendly things to do, including a dinosaur museum that's small enough for them to cope with, but big enough for lots to see.

The isle of wight! Tapnell Farm is an absolute must. Animals, soft play, play barn, go karts, bouncy pillow, zip wire.. it's amazing for kids and adults! The owl and monkey haven is another great place. You can book pony rides through the island riding centre, go for walks on the beaches, play bowling and crazy golf on sandown pier. Can you tell I love the isle of wight??!!

We’ve done both with our children. In Jersey we stayed at The Merton Hotel, this was some years ago, but it was great. We got unlimited access to swimming in the aqua dome, they had an evenings kids club and we collected DC from the nightclub as each evening was ended with a disco. In the Isle of Wight we had a holiday cottage and went out each day. There’s lots to do both places, but a car is a must, we flew to Jersey and hired a car, but you can go by ferry it’s about 7 hours, we’ve done this but booked a cabin.

Have done both.
Iow is more twee and some of the key locations are in need of repair /tlc.

Jersey would be my choice. Feels like abroad. Usually nicer, warmer weather. Beautiful beaches, scenery. Lots of options including trips to the smaller islands. Hands down Jersey if its in your financial remit.

Don't forget that Jersey is not NHS so you will need travel insurance.

I took my son to Jersey when he was 4 and again when he was 6 on my own. We had the best time. Jersey is beautiful in every way. Loads to do for the kids. We enjoyed the castles there and Jersey Zoo. It's really easy to get around, the restaurants are top class and in my experience they cater for your child's every need.

Would you really need to hire a car to get around Jersey? I don’t drive.

The bus services on Jersey are great and inexpensive, I’ve recently had a holiday there with a four year old and we managed perfectly well.

IOW in my experience with my DC. I love Jersey too, but for a 4 year old, I think IOW has more things that they would enjoy.

Hey, no you wouldn't need a car as the bus services there are brilliant. Driving is a bit of a pain if you're not used to it as the roads in places are very narrow.

If you don't drive IOW will be a nightmare, public transport is expensive and buses will really limit what you can do

Have you considered the Isle of Man? Masses to do great local transport including steam trains and electric trams. Half hour flight from Liverpool, not much more from Gatwick.
