Have I got my facts straight re: flying?

We're flying soonish, for the first time in years (to Germany).

We need to upload our passport details, fill in passenger locator forms 48 hours before travel and check in 24 hours both ends. Fully vaccinated so we'll need our digital covid pass (and I'll get a paper one just in case). Anything else we need to consider? After we've checked in, can we print off a paper boarding pass?

Holiday insurance.
Parking at the airport ?

You can usually print boarding pass or download them to your phone.

Ehic/ghic ? Either print off boarding passes, save on phone or use the app.

Which airline are you flying with? Some aren’t issuing mobile boarding passes until they check your docs at the airport. BA for example will, if you use Verifly, but you can’t use Verifly from Germany to UK. So you get given your pass at the airport. Ryanair will issue them in both directions. EasyJet did too last time I flew with them, Lufthansa is hit and miss depending on route (I fly between UK and Germany regularly).

Have a PDF copy of your vaccination passes ready to upload after you submit the German PLF. You need to do that to become exempt from quarantine. There will be a link at the end of the PLF and they will email you a verification code.

Check you not only have more than 6 months left on your passport by your return date, but that it is less than 10 years old too.

It’s 3 months for European countries and airlines should be going with that , however 6 months it’s safer in case check-in isn’t aware that’s it’s 3 months.

Check luggage sizes and weight limits on the airline website.

Check the rules for liquids in hand luggage and be prepared to unpack all liquids and electronics at security.

And be prepared to take off all coats, belts, shoes etc at security

Having just flown to th US and back I recommend using VeriFLY if your airline supports it.
