Interrailing or not?

Hello, looking for advice please. Heading to Nice this summer with husband and 4 children, 2 are 11 and under. Will be also be making stops in Marseille, Carcassonne and Paris. The question is, is it better to get an Interrail ticket or buy direct? As I’ll be booking seats anyway for all our journeys I could as easily book individual tickets. My costings make Interrail cheaper but that’s before I factor in supplements and sleepers. I’m also confused about whether the Interrail includes the Eurostar or not - I think it does but we have to pay a hefty supplement on top? Planning night train from Paris and, for those of you that have done it, should we book the 6 berth or 2 4 berths? Any other tips and advice very welcome. Thank you!

You can normally get bargains if you buy the tickets from SNCF/OuiGo when they first go on sale, so 4 months before travel. Do you need a sleeper from Paris? Is there one, even? Its about 5.5 hours to Nice and less to Marseille. I would price up when the tickets become available and then compare to the cost of the interrail tickets.

Also look at www.seat61.com which has masses of info, including about interrail tickets. I think you have to pay £30 each way for the Eurostar with an Interrail pass.
