Current passport wait time

Hi, has anyone applied for a child's first UK passport recently? If so what was your wait time please.

Just curious to see how accurate the turn around time.

In December I two child renewals back at 7 days and 10 days. In January it took 17 days also a renewal. They all went to different locations. Very impressed with the service.

Do you have to send any documents off for a renewal though? I've had to send his birth certificate so think that will alter the wait time.

Depends on how long your piece of string is

Yes, any old passport.

I’ve done two renewals in the last 8 months and both have been approx 3-4 weeks.

Yes you need to send your old passport back before they release the new one

It said 4 weeks last week, has gone down to 3 weeks this week.. however it took 10 days for when my Ds's passport was signed for to put on account, then another week to text me to tell me it had been recieved. I am still now waiting on passport about a month from applying

Just got my sons first passport and took just under 3 weeks

Child replacement passport took 11 days in January. I was quite impressed.

I'm wondering when they start the clock? Took about 10 days from receipt of old passport to update the status. That was about a week ago we got notification.

Thanks everyone, they haven't updated the status to show documents received even and they hit them Tuesday via recorded delivery so will just have to wait and see.

They received my son's documents on 25th Jan and it updated to "recieved" on 3rd Feb.

We applied 22nd Jan and the passport is now with the courier and on its way to us.

Applied for DD's first passport in January and it took 17 days from starting the application to receiving the passport, exactly the same as my renewal even though they were dealt with in different locations. Really impressive :)
