Need help organising holiday to Andalucia
Bichette · 05/02/2022 17:17
DH and I (no kids) are planning to visit Andalusia in March for a week. We've been to Trailfinders and they have come up with this itinerary. Price is about £2k including nice hotels, breakfasts, economy flights and car hire.
Fly to Malaga, pick up hire car
Drive to Grenada, stay 2 nights, guided tour of Alhambra palace
1 night in Córdoba
2 nights in Seville inc flamenco show and tour of Alcazar
1 night in Ronda
Back to Malaga for 1 night, then fly home.
Does this sound do-able?
My main questions are:
What it's like driving there, mountain roads, busy cities?
Is it too many stopovers?
Is it worth staying the night in Ronda or could we just stop and visit while driving through?
Is 2 nights enough in Seville?
Any other advice greatly appreciated.
Our origin plan was just to visit Seville for a long weekend and stay in an Airbnb but it seems to be expanding and getting more expensive.

I've done that trip almost exactly but the other way round!
The driving was fine.
I LOVED Ronda and staying there.
I could have stayed longer in Seville but felt I'd got a real taste of it.
I'm very jealous of you - it was one of my favourite trips 😊

That's good news. Does £2k sound a reasonable price?

That sounds completely doable, I spent a week in malaga and did day trips by car to all of those places, so I think you'll have enough time to see the main sights. All great places to visit, from what I remember Rhonda is fairly small so I don't think you need to stay over if you didn't have time but I'm sure it's a lovely place to stay! Enjoy!xx

We're off to Malaga next week and Seville is one of my most favourite places. We stayed for three days at New Year just before COVID. It was just about right.
Sounds wonderful.

I am now thinking we should stay 3 nights in Seville and just drive through Ronda.

Roads are fine. Ronda is lovely. I think it all sounds fine. Will they book your Alhambra tickets? They get booked up very fast.

A couple of general points :-
Are the hotels in the city centres, & do they have their own car parks? Can be a nightmare if not.
If out of town, how do you get to the venues ?
I've stayed in Spain, & driving in cities can be rather daunting - especially when you're not in your own car. Mountain roads are not a problem - no different to UK.
Why stay a night in Malaga? I'd rather have an extra day in Cordoba.
Can't comment on the cost. You could always look up the proposed elements on-line

Yes, the hotels suggested do have parking, but usually at an extra cost of about 20€.
I'm not fussed about staying in Malaga but DH wants to go to the coast and spend some time on a beach.

And Alhambra tickets are included with a skip the line guided tour.
