Has anyone flown from Birmingham (BHX) recently?

We have a 7am flight on a Friday coming up.

What time would you advise arriving at the terminal?

The airline still recommends 2 hours but with the extra checks I wondered if this will be enough? On the other hand if check in won’t open until 5am is there any point getting there before then?!

It depends who you are flying with and how many other flights they are managing at the same time. I left BHX with TUI who were juggling about 3 flights. We were recommended to arrive 3 hours before and needed it cos it was a bit of a disorganised scramble. I would go with what you are advised to do.

2 hours is more than enough. I’ve been through several times in recent weeks and it’s a) not very busy and b) very well organised,
The security queues look busy but the longest time it took to get through was 15 mins.
Fast track is never open so I wouldn’t bother paying extra for that and it’s not needed

Check in takes a bit longer for checking paperwork. Security was normal. (We had one of the first flights. Check in opened long before security. We had plenty of time for breakfast post security). It was 3hrs before when we flew.

I have, in late December. I don't remember any extra checks other than showing your covid pass. At the gate, they check you according to the requirements of your destination, but that is usually very quick. We didn't check in any bags, though, just had hand luggage.

Thanks all. I’ll have a look at how many other flights are due to depart at the same time.

We’re staying close by the night before but it’ll still be a struggle getting the teenagers up at that time in the morning!

Have you already flown @Muchtoomuchtodo ?

Wondering if you were on the same flight as me last Friday!! If not - then yes 2 hours is absolutely fine, although this week it may be busier with half term .

No. We’re going on Friday morning.
Fingers crossed it’s not too busy and we can get something to eat before we fly.

We flew with jet 2. They have self service weigh machines for your check in cases and just ask if you have done the Covid paperwork rather than checking it all . This was different from October when we queued for ages . It may depend on your destination though. We had time for some breakfast .
