Hi
Going up to EDinburgh this Friday for winter wonderland and panto at the Kings theatre. Any recommendations to eat with DH ds 5 and 7 before panto on Friday night? Walking distance from Kings? Also need a perfect cafe to have birthday cake and coffee walking distance from Princes Street gardens?
TIA
Oh...is Mollies any good at the terminal?

Am thinking.
I don't know the area round the King's Theatre very well - I can't think of any restaurants except the Kurdish one opposite and I haven't been there before. On Lothian Road (leads up to the road where the theatre is) there are a few places: a pizza place, a Chinese/japanese place that does tempura and other food cooked right in front of you/the Great Wall Chinese restaurant...
Sorry maybe someone will come along with a fab recommendation (tamum will know that area better).

For birthday cake and coffee: what about the place at the top of Harvey Nicks? Forth Floor. They are good with children there.

We're going to the panto on Thursday night too! Hmm- depends on walking distance I think. Blue Bar Cafe is good because they do smaller portions of things like sausages and mash (but extremely good quality), but that's about a 15 minute walk. About the same distance the other way is Luca's, which is also great for children but a bit of a rsik since you can't book. Cafe Grande in Bruntsfield is good with children but have never been there in the evening. The closest restaurant I can think of is Jacques- haven't been for ages but it's always been very good. Don't know about children though.

I can't think of a perfect cafe sorry- Harvey Nicks Forth Floor is spectacular, Jenners is OKish, Centotre is marvellous but not really a birthday cakey place.

There's a small Italian near the King's - or there used to be. We went there before a panto a couple of years back.
