My Dh thinks that a holiday to one of the carribean islands is out of our budget for a family holiday
Can you please help me prove him wrong!!
Family of 6 budget up to 13k
Looking for AI. With watersports and waterpark type resort. And flights would need to be included!
For next year obviously as I'm paying off this year's 😄

Depends on what island , Barbados you would probably struggle going by the prices I saw when I looked recently, we are also a family of 6. Holidays have gone up a lot , we booked last year for this year to the Middle East and the price has nearly doubled now. We are looking now for next year as think prices will just carry on rising.

@bellsbuss aww it's so depressing isn't it. 😪

We are in the DR atm, paid £907 pp last Monday.
Have a look on Tui or similar and see what the prices are like for the period you are looking at.

It depends where in the Caribbean you want to go. You’ll easily get Dominican, Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico for that.

PeacheyPeach · 04/02/2022 12:22

@Chasingsquirrels what is the DR like. I've heard lots of reports of people getting really sick out there so found that a bit off-putting 😳

This is our 3rd visit (2019, 2020 and now) and to be fair we've just stayed in the resort itself.
I've also been to St Lucia (once) and Antigua (twice) with my late husband. Both of which we travelled around more.

The St Lucia holiday was luxury, but I'd say the DR resorts we've stayed in have been on a par with the Antigua ones.

Have a look at Beaches - family version's of Sandals.

lucillelarusso · 04/02/2022 12:34

Why AI? You could have an amazing holiday for that much in Jamaica but the AI resorts are pretty awful imo. Have a look at Negril - 7 miles of beach, absolutely amazing activities on offer and delicious food

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn in montego Bay, Jamaica. No complaints. I paid approx 900 for AI x 7 nights.

Would you consider Mauritius? I know the flight is a bit longer. Emirates have got some pretty insane deals on at the moment - I have just had a look. You would get something pretty nice (5*) within your budget I reckon for about 10 days for all of you. Worth a look.

We normally do 10 days in the Caribbean in the summer but it now seems to be the same price as going in high season.

I've previously done 10 days at Cove Suites at Blue Waters in Antigua in August for about £9k for a family of 4 but now it's more like £15k. The price of Caribbean holidays seems to have gone up exponentially.
