Im heading to Lake Como this May for a family member's birthday.
I will be going with DH and toddler.
I've never been to Italy so would welcome any and all suggestions for what to do please!
I'm a culture vulture and not a foody (due to allergies).
TIA!

There are various villas (one featured in Star Wars! ), boat trips, small towns to visit with gelato and small beaches, Como itself is worth a trip and has a series of water jets for children to run through, a funicular up to a viewing point over the lake. Where is the wedding?

Oh, fab!

I'm so excited to go somewhere brand new, especially as we've not had a holiday in years.

It's a birthday in a private villa, I think near Melaggio (sp?).

We stayed in Belaggio and it was beautiful. Lots of boat ferries / taxis to get around from place to place, it’s a stunning area.

Villa del Balbienello is the one featured in Star Wars/Casino Royale. You can catch a motor boat from Lenno village which is a fab and very scenic way to arrive. Bellagio is gorgeous. There's a tourist train that runs up and down the lake from Menaggio. You can also get a bus to Lake Lugano from there.

The Clooney's villa is at Lenno!

@LIZS

The Clooney's villa is at Lenno!
That's at Laglio I think. I might have put the address in our satnav :)
LIZS · 01/02/2022 12:54

Ah yes think you are correct! You can only view from the lake and there may be an exclusion area

Budget won't stretch to Bellagio (if only!) but may well head in for a cheeky cocktail

Oh, ignore me. I presumed it was a sister hotel to the Las Vegas one. As you can tell, I'm pretty useless when it comes to local knowledge.

You can take a boat across the lake to Bellagio. It is gorgeous.

If you have National Trust membership take it with you as you can get discounted tickets to some of the villas:
