Which car seat for travelling on BA/Qantas with 14mo?

We are travelling to Oz in spring with DD who will be 14mo. We'll book her a seat and need to provide her with a car seat to fit on the airplane seat (they don't take under 2's in a seat without this). Has anyone done this on BA and which car seat did you use? Thanks!

Hi,

We are having similar problems. We are flying to Melbourne in September with our 14 month old with Qantas/BA. We have booked EJ a seat of his own as he won't sit still and are currently trying to get a car seat approved. We have Britax Eclipse as it fastens with a lap belt (and was the only one that all the seat manufactures said would work).

After weeks of having arguments with Qantas we will hopefully find out in the next few days if his car seat will be approved. The other annoying thing is that i found out we had been allocated seats and EJ had been given a seat between 2 strangers . After i have Qantas sorted i then have to go through the whole process again with BA who we are flying back with!

If anyone has used a Britax Eclipse on a long haul flight your feedback would be appreciated.

We flew to SA with BA and didn't need to take a car seat. DS had one of the airline provided seats on the table thingy. Only thing was that DH was allocated a seat in the row behind but someone took one look at me with dd and ds and offered to swap with him

Hi Catper33, thanks for the reply! We called Qantas this morning got told they can't do anything as it is a BA flight. Called BA got firstly told I should call Qantas, told them that they said to call BA. Turns out there is a third company involved which apparently makes the decisions. The BA lady was very helpful and called them on our behalf....hey presto our seats were changed immediately and we have now one with a bassinet! Now very happy and relieved and actually excited;)

Hi madiba

I am glad youy have it all sorted out. Our experience on BA was really good. They were great with our baby and toddler gave us extra food/snacks and drinks throughout and nothing was too much trouble. Qantas was the opposite. So I think you should have a great flight with BA. We utilised the Britax seat on BA that fits on the table at the bassinet position which was really good plus the extra table space made things easier. Have a great trip.
