Snorkeling in July/August - where to go?

I've previously snorkelled in Sardinia which was great, kelp forests, some brightly coloured fish and dived in Egypt which was beautiful.

Where could I go? (possibly similar to Sardinia in terms of snorkelling from the shore?) I was wondering about Corsica south coast, Malta? Or further afield? Any thoughts - it would be myself and two older teens

Hi! My teens are 14 and 16 if that helps. Thank you

Placemarking as I'd love to know too!

May be too far but the best places I have snorkelled are mexico & Maldives.

Thank you. Will have to look into flight times/costs. Are there any European destinations that I haven't thought of?

Corsica is great for snorkelling. We saw a really great variety of fish.

There’s a speed boat tax that goes from st florent to Lotu place which is just spectacular and the snorkelling is fab.

Crete has some great locations for snorkelling.

snowballupahill · 02/02/2022 15:59

Thank you will check out Corsica and Crete - shorter flights are always good. Is that north or south Corsica? Anywhere particular in Crete?

There are some beautiful beaches in the southern part, and balos in the north west. Just have a Google.

Lotu place is in the north of Corsica. I’ve not been to the far south but the beaches are meant to be beautiful.

I think most of the beaches except maybe on the north east coast are amazing.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction

Best snorkelling we've done is Egypt and Maldives. Maldives might be a risk weather wise in July. Galapagos and Raja Ampat are on my bucket list.

What about Bonaire?

I don't know if it has bits appropriate for snorkeling but there's some great diving in the south of France. I've done a couple of trips via Marseille airport - Porquerrolles, which is a group of islands/reserve offshore is the gold standard. I think it's a daytrip rather than a place to stay, and you'd have to research if it's suitable for snorkeling. Also look towards the Spanish border - that area is where Jacques Cousteau did his original diving and has some lovely marine reserves - again, I know it's good diving but assume there might be good snorkeling too
