Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria

Is Playa del Ingles erm…. “lively”?
Never been to Gran Canaria before. I know Tenerife better. This area is coming up on my searches and prices are reasonable, hotels look nice with good reviews (well not all of them but some!) but it looks like it’s a bit of a party area?
Is it suitable for families with young kids? Not not, better areas of Gran Canaria?

my son said it was 'lively' when he went and said i wouldnt like it. we spend the day in maspalomas next door and that looked a bit nicer. we stayed in peurt de mogan (sorry i'm sure spelt this all wrong) and that was lovely, but its farther from the airport

we found the busses very good and you can also catch a boat along the coast and hop off at various ports. parking in mogan was bad
