ESTA not authorised, what do I do now?

The $4 fee has been taken, then an update email took me to the log in page.
No reason given, just "Travel Not Authorised. "

We're supposed to fly to Florida in 4 weeks.
My partner's ESTA was approved straight away.

I went through every detail on the application with a fine tooth comb. Everything was word perfect??

Ring the US embassy. Did you click the wrong drop-down option? Not sure if still like that but happened to us. We had to retry after about 24 hours.

This is a link to the US Embassy in the UK. There’s an FAQ re ESTAs here, it tells you that you need to apply for a visa if not granted an ESTA or there’s a link to follow if you believe you’ve been wrongly denied.

You will need a B-2 visa then. I believe current wait to get an appointment may be in excess of 4 weeks.
