Hi

We go to Abu Dhabi on holiday in Feb but are flying from and to Dubai.

I don't suppose anyone can verify the covid testing procedures pls? It's confusing.

Family of 4 with 2 x under 10s

We need a PCR each 48 hours before arrival with results of that and vac status uploaded into the app.

We are then all scanned by a special machine on the border to check for covid and sent for a antigen of any issues. And have to go back to the emirate (Dubai) where we came from and register it with the local health authority. What happens then?!?!

I think we need a test on day 2 in Abu Dhabi? We have a family member who is a current resident sorting that out.

And then a LFT day 2 of arrival back? Can I literally take one of a packet or do I need to book one?

Any help from anyone in the know would be great. I feel like I'm reading a law text book when I read it on the foreign office website.

Sorry for all the typos it should say antigen on the border if there are any issues and if there are we are sent back to Dubai. Where would we quarantine? I have awful images of a prison!

I've answered the day 2 return LTF question for myself. I have to book and pay for one for the 4 of us.

There is quite a lot on Dubai Tripadvisor forum on people who have tested positive in Dubai. Generally the DHA will make you quarantine for 10 days and it can be paid or free (but that tends to be shared accommodation Shock) your travel insurance should cover some costs but it’s not ideal!

Flights from U.K. are now routinely pulled for a PCR on arrival in Dubai as well - may not happen to you but worth being aware.

You are right to read into and consider all the possibilities : I really recommend the tripadvisor board.
