Liverpool/Manchester Airport travel q

How long should I allow to get from central Liverpool to Manchester Airport by taxi? Is leaving at 1pm going to be doable for a 16.05 flight? It’s for my daughter and she has a Uni tutorial until 1. Wondering if it’s too optimistic…not sure if check in is 2 or 3 hours. Some of the post Covid flights we’ve taken have been 3 hours, some 2!

Thanks. 🙏

Around 60-90 minutes via road, depending on the roads. Cutting it fine, but doable.

I agree its tight even if you get a good Taxi man who can get out of the city quickly if its grid locked, personally I would ask to leave early

Where is she flying to? If US you are supposed to arrive 3 hours before flight departure time . Europe 2 hours. Domestic - depends on the airline

It’s going to be tight but there’s always the chance of something slowing you down - roadworks or an accident etc

Too tight
It can take ages to get out of city , edge lane , or the swan can be a nightmare alone depending on roadworks /traffic
It may be ok but I wouldn’t risk it
Plus as pp said you need to check in well before flight time

Have you checked out traintimes from Liverpool lime street to Manchester airport? Would be more reliable than the roads for sure.

Hi all, thanks! It’s to Europe so only 2hours. Hand luggage only. But of course with all Covid checks will still need to check in I think.

Last time we flew from Manchester it took over 2 hours from door to gate, we had to queue to get into departures, queue to get into security, which was running very slow, although in my experience it's usually not as bad mid afternoon.

But remember that they ask you to be at the gate 40 mins before departure and the gate could close not long after. Plus if she's hand luggage only, they won't be bound by the 'we can't take off because we have her hold luggage so we'd have to remove that before we can go' rule. You only need traffic getting out of Liverpool, on the motorway, or a queue through security and the risk of missing the flight increases dramatically.

Regarding check in, she can check in online and go straight to security, but Manchester airport can be horrendous.

I was just looking at train times for you and the direct train takes 1 hour 25.

I think she’d be better leaving the tutorial early
