Anyone know anything about this area of Spain? I'm not very familiar with it. Looking to book flights to Murcia, for june/July and stay in this area

I live nearby, don't know much about La Manga as not visited, but have been to various places in and around the Mar Menor.

Where are you thinking of staying? On the coast, or more inland?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I've just seen it. Looking at staying on the coast. Just looking for a chilled time near beaches and restaurants. Prefer not to hire a car if we don't have to. Just two adults no kids.

It's a lovely area! Personally I'm not a fan of La Manga main strip itself, it's too developed & busy for me, there is also La Manga Resort which you may be referring to, although I haven't been there.

I've stayed several times in a variety of the little towns dotted around the coast of the Mar Menor - all are all lovely.

It's a popular area with Spanish families, very relaxed and family friendly. Generally less Brits here than the other Spanish Costas, so a few words of Spanish go a long way. There's plenty to do, but mostly low key activities. Lots of promenades along the sea front, so great territory for walking and cycling as it's so easy to visit neighbouring villages/towns along the coasr. Los Urutias, Los Alcazares and Los Narejos are particular favourites.

For a chilled time near beaches without a car I'd look at Los Alcazares or maybe Santiago de la Ribera.

I've stayed at Hotel los Narejos in Los Alcazares several times - the apartments with large terraces are superb, food is good & an easy walk to the beach. Also plenty of shops/cafes/beach bars/ restaurants nearby. Some English is spoken at the hotel. If you book directly with the hotel there are excellent deals to be had!
