Hi
our two husbands are doing the london marathon next april and we are going down with them . We are one family of 4 with kids aged 11 and 13 and a family of 5 kids aged 9 and 13. Any ideas for hotels? or other places to stay. the marathon ends on the mall near St james park/ horse guards parade so it would be handy if we didnt have too much travelling after
thanks
helen

Just spotted this and having run the London marathon myself and lived within walking distance of the finish I suggest you look at a couple of the "chain" style hotels on the South Bank. I may be a bit out of date (not living in London at present) but there was a Novotel just over Lambeth Bridge (opposite Lambeth Palace). A few hundred metres further on is a Days Inn (or is it a Comfort Inn)just opposite the Imperial War Museum. Also there is a Travel Inn at the old County Hall. Hotels are also close to Waterloo East to catch train to start of race.

I think the Travel Inn at Euston has family rooms, too, which might help with the expense. It's across the road from Euston Station, so v easy on the tube.
