NYC - will they accept proof of infection instead of 2 jabs?

Due to travel to NYC in February. My DC has had one jab, and now due to testing positive for Covid, won't be eligible for his second jab until late March, after we go.

NYC requires children to be double vaccinated. Does anyone know if one jab plus proof of recent infection will be acceptable instead? I cannot find an answer anywhere.

Phone the American Embassy

Not from what I have read. I have a 11 year old and an 8 year old and we are most likely going to have to cancel our April trip to NYC due to the vaccine mandate.

Re the previous post, I doubt that the US embassy would be able to help you as it’s a NYC specific rule rather than a federal rule.

The airline or travel company should be able to help you.

I think you’ll be ok but only to eat outdoors and do outdoor activities ie nothing indoors. That’s my understanding. If you are on Facebook it’s worth joining NYC the place to be. Loads of detailed information there.

The bars and restraints weren’t so strict and kind of vaguely checked (not at all in China Town or Little Italy) but the Museums and indoor attractions eg one world observatory were really strict lots to do outside though. My 9 year old and I were there just before Christmas the requirement for him was just a first dose and I had to get him vaccinated on arrival which I was super stressed about and new we might have to be outside but it was so straight forward and free!

It depends what you want to do as must see I suppose. Hope you have a good time whenever you get there!

Ask nicely if you can get him jabbed early. Adults only have to wait 4 weeks from a positive test. I’m not sure why the interval is longer for children but they might vaccinate earlier under the circumstances.
