Holiday with 12 year old this summer

Does anyone know where we can go this summer with DC 14 (double vaxxed), DC 12 (will only just turn 12, so only 1 vax) and DC 9 (no vax)? We normally drive/camp in Europe, but I'm thinking France and Spain may not be possibilities this summer.

Hi @Overfullwardrobe

I'm in the same boat, except with my niece.

Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, France... loads on there!

They give covid updates too which I found really helpful. I'm looking to book a summer hol this year too - just want to know my money is safe etc.

I think it helps that Bojo changed the covid rules so no requirement for testing before you return which is music to my ears.

Let me know what you find!

The issue with France and Spain is that they both require all over-12s to be fully vaccinated (i.e. 2 doses of vaccine + at least 14 days). So your 14 and 9 year olds will be fine, but your 12-year-old will prevent you going to any country with that requirement.

Someone on another thread was saying Switzerland might be okay, and you might also want to check Portugal. Of course, there are many months until summer too, which means regulations may change, either for the better or worse between now and then ...

Yes, I agree France and Spain are probably not possible, I'm going to look at Portugal and Croatia I think - both look ok at the moment

The problem is countries can change their rules at the drop of a hat so where you can go now won't necessarily be the same as where you can go then.

I honestly think (but just my opinion) that all covid travel rules will be dropped by this summer so it won't be a worry

We researched for ages and found that some countries do allow unvaxed under 16s in without quarantaine if they come with a parent but then require on the day tests to visit anything including restaurants.

The other issue is that quarantaine requirements change at the drop of the hat, Germany changed to 10 days mandatory quarantaine regardless of vaccination status in one day just before Christmas.

We don't book anything unless we are prepared to loose the money and hope to get something in Summer.
