Are the Canaries hot in late March?

Hoping to get away for some sunshine but would like about 25c. I’ve also read on TA that it can be windy. Any experiences would be very useful thanks.

Yes , they are also windy

TheSnowyOwl · 02/01/2022 19:19

I think 20-25C is realistic for that time of year. They tend to be cooler and windier in the evenings/overnight. It can also depend where in the Canaries you go eg half of Tenerife has a very different climate to the other half.

Mrsjayy · 02/01/2022 19:19

I've been to tenerife last week in March it was hot windy though.

Mrsjayy · 02/01/2022 19:20

Yes North tenerife was cold I needed a cardigan. We went to loro parque

MrsPatrickDempsey · 02/01/2022 19:25

A bit of a mixed bag I think. Been to Tenerife and Lanzarote at Easter and the weather was variable day to day.

Twilightstarbright · 02/01/2022 19:26

Where would be the warmest/least windy?

I think it just depends. I've been once end of March and was nice and hot then again once in April and it was warm but the wind made it quite cold

QueenofLouisiana · 02/01/2022 19:27

You could look at Jandia in southern Fuerteventura which is warmer, but can be windy.
Playa de La Arena in Tenerife has a microclimate which is warmer than other parts of the island.
Perhaps avoid Lanzarote, the north can be chilly. Playa Blanca is warmer.

Mrsjayy · 02/01/2022 19:29

South Tenerife I think friend of A friend lives in Costa Adeje and their is fb pictures with sun and shorts in winter .

Caaarrrl · 02/01/2022 19:29

Been to gran Canaria at Easter and it was lovely. Warm enough to swim in outdoor heated pool, the unheated pool was a bit too chilly though. Don't remember it being too windy. The algarve was windier iirc.

minipie · 02/01/2022 19:32

Warmest most sheltered part of Canaries is southern Tenerife. Costa Adeje probably the nicest bit of that area.

Marrakech is a similar distance and would have nice weather then, probably a better chance of full on sun.

Clymene · 02/01/2022 19:33

I've been to Tenerife in February half term and it was really hot. Not windy

Clymene · 02/01/2022 19:34

Yes we were in Costa Adeje.

Twinkleylight · 02/01/2022 19:34

I went to Cordoba, southern Spain in early April and it was 27° and not windy. It was a city break rather than a beach holiday but it was amazing.

CheeseyHam · 02/01/2022 19:35

I've been to costa Adeje in Tenerife in mid December and Meloneras in Gran Canaria in mid February and both were very hot. Hot enough to get a tan and swim in the pools.

QueenofLouisiana · 02/01/2022 19:42

Marrakesh was lovely in December (2019- our last holiday). Cool at night, but 22ish during the day. Far warmer than Northern Lanzarote the year before. We also found the hotel etc much nicer, take appropriate dress for the souks though.

BestZebbie · 02/01/2022 19:43

Tenerife end Feb/start of March was much warmer than the UK at that time and like a nice late spring/early summer day here....lovely for building sandcastles, sightseeing, sitting outside cafes etc (in light trousers and a cardigan but open shoes). Bright but occasionally a bit overcast or breezy for a few hours. I wasn't at all comfortable trying to lie on a sun lounger after going into the hotel pool though - too chilly for that!

CombatBarbie · 02/01/2022 19:55

Yes.... We went in Dec a few years back and it was 26....and windy (still warm enough for bikinis, was more of a welcomed breeze). a lot of people were burnt.

Roselilly36 · 02/01/2022 20:02

Canaries are a 365 destination, great for winter sun. We have visited in Dec & Feb many times, Tenerife and Lanzarote, prefer Lanzarote tbh, had consistently good weather. Enjoy OP.

Thanks all.
