It's been a rough few years and I want book a relaxing week away in the sunshine in June, but I just don't know where to go. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations to shortcut the searching process...All my recent holidays have involved hiking boots/cagoules/packed lunch boxes etc. and this time I just want to lie by a pool/on a beach, stroll around somewhere scenic and maybe take in a local attraction or two. It will be me, my DH, DS 7 and DD 9. I would ideally like to fly from Glasgow/Edinburgh/Newcastle and I definitely don't want to do any self-catering. Anyone been anywhere lovely they'd recommend?

We went to menorca a few years ago, loads to do, scenic and plenty of sun and relaxing.

Lots for choice in the Canary Islands. personally I go for all inclusive / adults only for a leading time.

Greece is perfect at that time. Laid back, very child friendly. I would recommend Crete or Kefalonia but there are plenty of other lovely options.

But how are you going to holiday in June with school age kids - do you mean the May half term? If so I warn you that flights to anywhere beachy are already astronomical that week Sad, I think due to the double bank holiday. You might do better with a package, I’m not sure whether package prices have also been hiked.

Union lido? Just outside Venice with sandy beaches, good water parks, fab weather... Lovely for start of Scottish holiday season

What local attractions do you want? We always preferred something cultural. Others think water parks and Disney!

I would look at Tuscany. We stayed near San Gimignano. Lovely hotel and big pool. Loads of places to visit. We think Italy is brilliant for families.

Alternatively I really recommend Brittany. Great towns, lovely beaches and fantastic food. Easy to get to and there’s a variety of hotels.

Do we think holidays are going to be OK this summer? What if you test positive? Don't you lose your money?

Some holiday companies will rearrange for you. I cannot put my life on hold any longer! I’m too old.

We had a lovely week in Majorca but it was October not June, so cooler (still warm compared to Scotland!). There were plenty of beaches and pools to.laze around but also a water park, aquarium, small theme park and actually if you get up early there is miles of stunning hikes to be discovered. We stayed near Portals

Lake Garda. That's my plan for June.
