Heading to Zurich for a couple of weeks sightseeing and trips into the mountains - what sort of thing should I pack for myself and my DD? Thanks x

Are you double jabbed? As Switzerland is super strict with covid passports and going into any where!

Is can snow in Zurich in Jan, so defo warm clothes!

Serenschintte · 31/12/2021 13:48

At the moment it’s very mild!
Keep an eye on the weather. If mountains and not skiing then a warm coats, hat, gloves and snow/walking bootsshould be fine for that.
I’d say look at the weather and pack accordingly.
Also if ifs grey in Zürich it won’t be further up eg Einseilden or the mountains. Meteo Swiss is a really good app if you want to get out of the grey weather which is often in Zürich and around

Fingerless gloves
Waterproof gloves
Hat that covers the ears
Scarf
Thermal leggings
Joggers
Snow boots
Power bank - the cold zaps your phone battery
Vaseline or lip balm
Flask
Waterproof backpack
Base layers and thick jumpers
Windproof outer layer

Zurich is quite smart but more smart casual. It could be bitterly cold and icy or mild and damp. You would need waterproof boots with decent grip, layers of thermals, mid layers decent waterproof and windproof jacket. Snowsuit or jacket/ salopettes for dc. Hat , gloves etc.

Thanks so much for the tips so far! We’re all triple jabbed other than DD (too young) and we’ve got our vaccine passports and pre-flight tests sorted. What is a good brand of boots and snowsuit for small children?

Decathlon, Little Trekkers website, H and M

Next often do snow suits and warm ish boots, but would recommend snow boots over and above for little ones.

Take waterproof gloves (like ski gloves) if your DC is old enough to play in the snow.

Zurich is a great city!

Thanks so much for all of the advice - we made it and are enjoying the city. Got to try out our new snow boots yesterday! Thanks again x
