Sorry if I seem really daft but can someone explain clearly fit to fly testing and also the rules on entering the uk. Do I have to test once back in the uk even if fully vaccinated?
Theres so much advice and different pricing.

Where are you coming from?
Yes you need to book and pay for a day 2 PCR test in the UK even if vaccinated

Jessie40 · 28/12/2021 17:04

flying to Portugal from uk then back to uk.
Do you have to have a test 2 days before I return to the uk then 2 days after I have returned ?
Plus isolate until results are back?

Looks like you need a PCR or LFT to enter Portugal
You then need to test before leaving Portugal and book a day 2 test for after you arrive in the UK. It can be taken at any time up to day 2 so you could get one on the day you arrived back

WhiteXmas99 · 28/12/2021 17:26

You can book a return test for your arrival day so you only need to isolate for the rest of that day and then the following day.

Not sure how the government continues to justify a testing regime designed to track the spread of Omicron to UK when UK is currently the Omicron capital of the world.

Yes, LFT in the 2 days before you return to UK. Then PCR test in the 2 days after your return and isolate until results. You could either book to have this done at the airport as you land or we ordered online from Randox, and tested ourselves as soon as we got back to our car in the airport parking, then dropped the samples in one of their drop boxes at a service station on our way home. Results back in less than 24 hours, so minimal isolation needed.

Thank you everyone.
So the LTF test are the free ones we can get? I can take them with me to get home.

No, you need to use private LFTs you pay for. You can't use the free NHS ones for travel

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 28/12/2021 17:38

LFT needs to be from a private company who verify the result. (Like Randox)

LIZS · 28/12/2021 17:39

Travel lfts are taken supervised, via a pharmacy, clinic or videocall. So not nhs ones.

Right ok I've got it. See I told you I was daft haha
Thank you for your help
