Apartment in Mexico or Antigua

Has anyone been on a family holiday and stayed in an apartment instead of a hotel in either Mexico or Antigua? And did you feel safe?
Did you book through a travel agent or find it yourself?

I'd put Antigua off your holiday list for now. Long term resident friend has just left, taking the first available job open to him in US. He reports that the island has descended into near anarchy post covid. Crime up massively, shortages, inept government and a population highly suspicious of vaccines.

Oh wow that sounds awful 😳 tbh I was influenced by someone off Instagram who is there now and they usually look like they are on amazing holidays!!!!

Mexico is a hard no if you want safe. Why not go for the BVIs or Nassau etc?
