Just looking for recommendations of Dubai hotels or resorts for a family (2 adults, 1 2 year old)
Ideally with 2 bedroom suites so we can all get some decent sleep

There are thousands of hotels in Dubai and a huge number of 4/5 star resort hotels. You don't give any idea of budget and time of visit or what you want to do. Dubai is also pretty sprawling.
Palm Jumeirah has lost of mostly upscale resort hotels with a range of styles but it can be hard and time consuming to get off. Ok if you mostly want to sit by the pool or beach.
JBR has a range of things to do without too far and better taxi service
Dubai Marina is closer to the metro but no beaches as such.
Dubai Creek / Festival City are close to water, don't know about beaches but are closer the the old city.
There is a world of choice. but you need to firm up what you're looking for.

The Jumeirah group have lovely hotels.
The Jumeirah Beach Hotel is the one more geared to families.
I have stayed in the Al Qasr and it's gorgeous, gong back in February, fingers crossed.🤞

We don't really have a budget, we're open to any suggestions really. There is so much choice, that's why I was looking for recommendations, rather than trawling through the Google list!

DH and I stayed at Jumeirah beach resort (I forget which section) pre dd so while we enjoyed all of the grown up bits (cocktail bars and adult only pool) but didn't really see much of the "toddler friendly" side of things

Places I've stayed which I have loved in Dubai and stayed repeatedly;
Fairmont Palm
Jumeirah
Waldorf
Grand Hyatt
Check Tripadvisor for latest reviews and hotel website on service updates as I imagine this has been impacted on the back of Covid.
Enjoy - I love Dubai. Smile

We have just booked the Hilton Doubletree Marjan Island which is quite a bit out of Dubai but gets good reviews as a family hotel. We have opted to add 4 days on at the Hilton Jumeirah Beach which is near the base of the Palm to give easier access to central Dubai for some sight seeing. It also has a sister hotel Hilton Jumierah The Walk which has two bedroom appartments with SC facilities, but also the use of the hotel restaurant, pool etc if you wanted a different board basis. The JA Beach Hotel is in a similar area and also has big 2 bed appartments. I haven't stayed at any of these yet but these are the ones we considered after a lot of reading! I found the BA Complex Itinery planner an ideal way to play about with hotels/flights to see what were the best options combined with google maps to check location!

Thanks for the recommendations so far, I'll have a look into them.
Also happy to be based outside of the main areas of Dubai for the right resort.

We went to the One and Only Royal Mirage. It has a super pool and is beautiful. Still gets high ratings as far as I can see. The Jumierah Beach Hotel was always a firm favourite with families. I wouldn’t go too far out. If you fancy a bit of shopping it’s quite a distance to get anywhere. Dubai is so glitzy there’s no shortage of bling hotels. Personally I feel they are all quite big and anonymous.
