Should I cancel our flights and hotel for Budapest on Saturday? I'm going with DD as a treat. We were planning 3 days for visiting xmas market and spa but now I'm getting worried.

I've booked the covid tests. Don't mind losing money in them. We can cancel flights and hotel and get the money back.

Or just go?
But I'm frightened that one of us gets it and we get stuck?

I can still cancel at this point. Dd is adamant tgat we should go.

I'm more cautious.

I’d personally go but I’m travelling abroad once or twice a month now so pretty used to it.

How bad would it be in your situation if you did get Covid there and got stuck for 10/14 days? Does your insurance cover you? Would you be okay with it if it happened? Those are the most important questions.

Are you currently testing negative on tests and are you avoiding situations where you might contract the virus? Anywhere where people aren’t masked or tested, close indoor contacts… if you’re negative on Friday and have been ‘careful’ all week, chances are you’ll be negative by the time you come back.

If you go, do the return test at the earliest available opportunity. 72 or 48h, whatever I is allowed now. That way you’re giving it less time to ‘turn’ positive.

I wouldn’t risk getting stuck out there. I’d be stressing about it, so that would ruin the trip for me. You may be more chilled than me though!

I'm negative and have already had covid and my booster. But I work amongst lots of people and dd is not old enough for the booster.
Yes I'm insured but woukd hate to miss the run up to xmas with the rest of my family by being stranded.

Don't want to disappoint Dd equally

You should go.

I feel it is risky and I'm not good with risks.

Of course it's risky, most things are, but I think you should go. Have fun!

If you can get the flight and hotel money back I'd cancel. You should be able to get a refund on the tests as well.
It's not a nice trip abroad if you spend all the time worrying about testing and getting back, lovely though Budapest is.

I was due to go on Wednesday, I’ve cancelled in case we get stuck. However, I’d be going sans kids so we would have been away from our kids and in a Hungarian hotel without them. I have a friend there and she says cases numbers are through the roof but that may be hearsay. Not worth the risk for me.
