Special things to do in New York

My husband is working temporarily in NY and his parents are going out to visit in January. We were hoping that their Christmas presents could be some sort of special treat activity for their visit. Any suggestions? They really aren't into musicals and have visited before.

Helicopter trip round manhattan?

I saw the Harlem Gospel Choir at the BB King Club (Sunday Brunch) on 42nd Street (i think). It was out of this world. I'm not religious at all but came out feeling like I'd found God! Blooming brilliant.

Empire State by night. Magical! (very cold, though, so wrap up!)

Afternoon tea at Lady Mendl's Tea Salon in Gramercy (lovely , intimate little 'drawing room' that serves proper afternoon tea).

Have you checked out the New York State ballet? Or a broadway musical/play?

The helicopter trip is worth it, it's good fun and an amazing way to see the city.

Skating at Rockefeller Center (depending on how old they are ) and there is a fantastic wine bar/shop right near it.

Definitely go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I highly recommended Balthazar in Soho for brunch.

oh when they have been skating if they do at Rockefeller there is a fab place called teh Rainbow room or something that is great for cocktails on teh 60 somethingth floor of the Rockefeller has top views over mid/downtown. You don't ahve to pay to get in like you do to go to the top either
