Nervous about flying
Sinusheadachesahhhh · 29/11/2021 14:39
As I am getting older I am a lot more nervous about flying. Due to flight at the weekend. 6 hour flight, does anyone have any tips for how I can relax? Turbulence gives me anxiety and I think the plane is going to fall out of the sky. So nervous but need to stay calm for my dad

I'm exactly the same. Became anxious after very turbulent flight about 10 years ago. Not helped when I asked the flight attendant how long turbulence was likely to last ams she said 'it's going to get worse before it gets better''! I like travelling abroad too much though and force myself to get on flights. A glass of wine helps before and I have had some pills to take before flight from GP also. I also try to think about all of the flights successfully taking off and landing all of the time and that the chances of any problems with my flight are less than the chances of winning the lottery! It's not easy though so I do sympathise.

Same here op. I travelled the world when I was young but I am terrified of flying now. Not of crashing but I hate having no control over when I can get off I feel dteadfully claustrophic, I fear delays etc. Can't cope with it at all. I panic.
Two things have helped: avoidance and Xanax (doc gave me a limited dose to get me on board - he knows I hate taking pills of any kind - and I only need half a pill to take the edge off.
Good luck
