Have prices gone crazy to recoup losses as lack of tourists due to Covid?

We are going for 4 days, 5 nights in early January (on a budget) so just wondering on a ballpark figure for food, main attractions, taxis.

We have simple tastes so will get breakfast in the hotel (included), bagel or hotdog for lunch, then mid range dining for dinner (I’m a veggie so hope there will be options!).

Also what is it like with Covid restrictions?

DH was there a couple of weeks ago and he said that he found it expensive, compared with pre-Covid. NYC has always been expensive, of course, but I think prices everywhere have gone up. Based on what you've said though I don't think you'll find that a hot dog is much more expensive than before, or a slice of pizza. In terms of attractions, just look at their websites for prices.
