Already had Dengue Fever? Would you travel to a Dengue risk area again?

I had Dengue on holiday years ago. I would dearly love to travel to some interesting far-flung places again with my teens but I have avoided them due to the risk of a second Dengue infection. Am I being over cautious? I realise a huge proportion of the world just have to deal with it. How could I reduce the risk without drowning in deet? Are there exotic destinations that don't suffer so much with it? I love Europe etc but would love to go further afield with my boys before they no longer want to holiday with us!

I've no idea what dengue involves, but I've had malaria and wouldn't want to repeat that.
Surely there's plenty of safe, but interesting places to go?

My eldest daughter caught dengue when she was about 12. I have worried about her ever since (she is now an adult!) when she goes away. I have drilled into her the importance of insect repellant and she does drown in a 75% deet product, but I would rather that than the repercussions of getting a 2nd infection and possible haemorrhage.

I had dengue when I was 19 in Thailand (24 years ago now!) and was in hospital with it. I've been to places with dengue since and have been fine, but I was quite cautious. It's a shame there isn't a vaccine available here as there is a licensed vaccine.
Have you looked on the fit for travel site? You have to go through each country but it tends to tell you whether Dengue is a risk or other infectious diseases.
