Myself and my partner have a chance of a child free long weekend later this month and I can't decide between London and Amsterdam? Where would you choose and why?

London - far more things to see & do.

WhatonEarth1 · 07/11/2021 15:53

London as it’s less of a faff. Plus, Amsterdam is one of the most child-friendly cities I’ve been to, so save it when you want a city break with the kids.

Where do you live? Is it train vs flying? London has more variety. But how do you intend to travel?

WhatHaveIFound · 08/11/2021 14:47

At the moment you still have to have a negative antigen test to go to the Netherlands so on that basis I'd go for London instead.

We are in Scotland, so fly or train to London.

Train to London. No brainer.

What about Belfast with day trip to Giants Causeway?

Amsterdam is so beautiful and small and walkable. We had a great time there. Loved it!

I’ve been to London so many times so it’s not as “special” to me.

I never noticed children when I was there - I was 30-

Going against the grain and saying Amsterdam, but I live near London. After so long not leaving the UK I really crave a different culture and there is more than enough to keep you occupied in Amsterdam for a weekend. Its also a much cheaper city so you can get a nicer hotel etc

waterlego · 10/11/2021 07:45

I’d go to Amsterdam for the same reasons as @Seaweedhair.

Plus, I quite like the coffeeshops

If the op has been to London loads of times, then of course Amsterdam! However exhibitions change in London, loads of restaurants to try, huge variety of everything so even visiting often you will find something new.
