Upmarket Camping in Europe

We're looking for some posh 'camping' in Europe for next summer. I mean chalets/mobile homes rather than tents etc.

Wishlist:

  • 3br airconditioned chalet/bungalows/mobile home things
  • pool/s and ideally waterslides
  • close to a sandy beach
  • not enormous
  • anywhere on the med - France, Spain, Italy...

We've been to Campoloro in Corsica and would maybe go back but with Easyjet cutting back flights there and Air Corsica not flying from London any more, getting there and back reasonably is a 'mare.

I've started looking but there are soooo many it's brain-frazzling very quickly. Any suggestions for a nice spot with things to do for us + DD's 15 & 13, DS 9?

Eurocamp and Siblu both have several sites in the south of France that should fit the bill:

www.eurocamp.co.uk/destinations/france/south/rivieraprovence/parcsinregion

www.siblu.co.uk/camping/france/south-coast

Les Criques de Porteils, Le Bois de Valmarie or Bella Sardinia

Look at Venue holidays. Much cheaper than Eurocamp. We have used them very happily. Also Lifestyle holidays, both are quite small firms with good reviews.

We love Campoloro! It is a pain to get to, though, so I understand where you are coming from. Our other favourite YV is Les Tournels in Ramatuelle outside of St Tropez. We have gone every May half term for years as the prices are great, weather is perfect and the area isn’t crowded with tourists yet. The pools and facilities are clean and very nice, the whole site is in a vineyard that’s walking distance to Pampelonne (and 5 mins drive away from arguably even better beach at Escalet), and the sea view cottages have really spectacular views. We rented a premium sea view spa one last year, though IMO those are overpriced for what is still essentially a mobile home holiday. Views from the sea view ones though are truly excellent, and the kids loved the hot tub in the evenings after a day at the beach.

The St Tropez traffic is truly legendary, but this particular place you can actually reach via back roads without having to go on that horrible stretch around the bay between St Tropez and Ste Maxime. We’ve never had trouble coming or going on the back roads via Ramatuelle in May.

Would second this. We went with lifestyle. They're great. Europarcs equally good but less choice.

We stayed in cala Gogo in Spain and another which I have forgotten the name of! Both lovely.

Villanova was the other I think.

Oh, and if you are into something more offbeat, Camping Bled (www.sava-camping.com/si/camping-bled) has little timber and glass cottages right on Lake Bled in Slovenia. They’re small but the site itself has its own private beach and is perfectly located for activities on the lake as well as exploring the area (Postojna Caves, Ljubliana, Lake Bohinj, mountain cable car, etc). It was a fab place for a really interesting and relaxing holiday.

If you’re flying then I would look at the Venetian Riviera or Croatia. Loads of nice campsites and it’s usually cheaper to book direct

Siblu La Carabasse is good for teens with the town, beach, funfair, minigolf, canal du midi, all within walking distance. Their top range mobiles usually come with covered decking, tv and washing machine. Wifi was very good though I think you had to pay... Big pool complex with slides, sports pitches, actvities laid on for teens and one of the bars was a bit of a hang out for them in the evening.

Sorry, I only just got back to this. Thank you do much for the suggestions! Some of these could work but I'll have a proper deep dive...
