I'm going to the USA in a few weeks, what do I need to organise?

Is anyone going in the next 6 weeks? What did you need to sort before you go? I'm trying to get my head around everything!

Sort out Esta visa online, get insurance, spending money.
Check weather/temps where you're going and pack accordingly.
If you're a tea drinker, take tea bags. Tea there is not great

I travelled to the USA at least once a year before lockdown so my ESTA has been sorted, I alllllwaaaays bring my own teabags and have a savings pot of 'just' dollars that I've rolled over, over the years.

You will be required to provide evidence of vaccination through the NHS covid app or an NHS letter in order to travel.You’ll also need to show proof of a negative test result taken no more than three days before your flight.

Check the local COVID procedures in the state you are going to. Each one is different. My state, for example, is back in masks. Some counties in this state require vaccine proof to go to a restaurant or bar, other counties will accept a negative test.

Where are you going, OP?

• make sure you have the NHS app on your phone, showing your Covid vaccinations - you'll need to show this both outbound and inbound
• get a PCR test within 3 days of your outbound flight
• US passenger attestation form (although I think if you forget this they have copies at check in that you can fill out - it's a very simple form, unlike the UK passenger locator form).

Then for coming back:

• Order day 2 lateral flow test
• Fill out PLF in 48 hours before your return flight, quoting ref. no of day 2 lateral flow test.

Refresh download and save and printout your covid pass now! There was a glitch a few weeks back, just a day when the app wasn’t working but for those who were travelling that day without proof, their plans were scuppered.
