Best Place for a Girls weekend away?

Bookaholic73 · 19/10/2021 17:43

I am near Exeter, so preferably flying from either Exeter or Bristol airports.

Max flight time of 3 hours from there.
European or further afield. Either snow or heat, I don’t mind.

Just me and my BFF.

Any suggestions?

I'd book a lovely spa hotel in Jersey but you're probably wanting to go a bit further afield !

Reallyimeanreally2022 · 19/10/2021 17:46

Budget!!

SouthOfFrance · 19/10/2021 17:47

What kind of holiday? Lazing by a pool, beach, or city break, sightseeing etc?

maddy68 · 19/10/2021 17:51

Budapest. The outdoor spas are lush. Nice restaurants. Safe. Nice bars

kikipie · 19/10/2021 18:01

For a spa hotel, Monchique Resort and Spa in the Algarve. Fly to Faro

givememarmite · 19/10/2021 18:11

Palma...stay at a hotel near the harbour, bit of sightseeing and/or beach club in the daytime, lovely tapas places and bars in the evenings. Had a weekend away there with some girlfriends before covid and it was perfect

Bookaholic73 · 19/10/2021 18:21

Sorry, forgot to say budget.

Max £800 per person.
Nothing loud, we prefer chilled and relaxing. Some restaurants for dinner, quiet bars for drinks.

Sightseeing or pool, maybe both. Or a snowy city escape. We really are open to most things.

Anyone else?

Budapest then

Bookaholic73 · 19/10/2021 20:53

I’ve never even considered Budapest before.
What’s the weather like there? I guess I’ll have to Google it.

Lisbon is one of my favourite cities for a chilled break. I also really enjoyed Berlin!

snowspider · 19/10/2021 21:04

Stockholm

Titsywoo · 19/10/2021 21:13

Barcelona - had a fab weekend here with friends. Far too much cava! There is a beach in the city so you can have the best of both worlds!

fedup65356 · 19/10/2021 21:17

Vienna, Basel, Berlin for winter city breaks.

Otherwise the Algarve for sun. Or possibly Northern Spain depending on the time of year.

DentalWorries · 19/10/2021 21:20

What time of year are you thinking?

If spring/summer then Seville or Barcelona. Or in winter Copenhagen or Budapest.

Carolwithane · 19/10/2021 21:24

Definitely Budapest. It's fabulous

happytoday73 · 19/10/2021 21:24

Krakow, Lisbon.. Budapest is nice too

Verite1 · 20/10/2021 23:19

Lisbon, Barcelona, Dubrovnik

Anycolourwilldo · 20/10/2021 23:27

I had a brilliant weekend with girlfriends in and around Bordeaux. We spent two heavenly days cycling around the vineyards drinking wine and eating cheese and stayed in a tumble down chateaux. It wasn't nearly as expensive as it sounds.

cozycat1 · 20/10/2021 23:59

Seville,Barcelona,Palma, Lisbon all cities and so busy, but great for sightseeing and still.possible to explore and find quieter spots. You might be able to get hotel.with pool/rooftop terrace as well. Lisbon food was relatively cheap with some really nice meals.Haven't been, but Valencia recommended by few people I know.
Copenhagen good too but pretty expensive to eat and drink out.

41sunnydays · 21/10/2021 00:15

Im looking for the same but def sun holiday. In an ideal world a city with a beach so we get both sightseeing and relaxing.

And also recommend Barcelona and Seville as great city breaks

MissAmbrosia · 21/10/2021 11:56

Seville, Lisbon, Barcelona, Budapest

Bookaholic73 · 21/10/2021 12:10

The more we think about it, the more I think a winter break in a nice cold city would be nice.

Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm all sound good. But maybe too expensive to eat out. We don’t plan on doing much cooking.

Thank you for the suggestions so far, I’ll look into Lisbon and Budapest as I hadn’t considered those.

Is Berlin nice? It seems to be very scenic, and cheaper than the Scandinavian cities.
