Thinking about taking the kids on an adventure! Where can we get to by ferry or train?! Ideally without it costing an arm and a leg?! Kids would be 7 and 5 by next summer.

Camping La Ravoire is an absolute gem of a site on the shores of Lake Annecy and well worth the effort to reach. We took the Eurostar to Paris, then a train to Annecy, then a boat from near the Jardins de l’Europe and jumped off an hour later at Doussard. It’s a 15-minute walk to the site from the jetty. Or you can get the hourly 51 bus which passes the site. We had a fantastic time at La Ravoire with its kid-friendly swimming pools, shady pitches, mountain views and fresh croissants.

Well how funny I was going to suggest Lake Annecy! We have stayed at la Ravoire three times and it is one of our favourite places ever. The alps in summer are fantastic as you really have everything - swimming in the lake, exploring the mountains and enjoying fun family stuff like cycling, high ropes or paragliding. La Ravoire is lovely for families, small but with a good shop, restaurant and swimming pool and dead helpful owners and staff.

The Isle of Wight.

Would also recommend the seat61 website to really get you excited

Oh yes!!! Gosh I used to use that years and years ago, had completely forgotten about it!
My issue at the moment is not knowing where to aim for.
