Hi,
I've booked to travel to the USA on the first of November and the date is coming around so fast. I've searched online and cant find any update on their plans to let brits in and any dates at all! I cant cancel and book somewhere else until the holiday is cancelled by virgin, but this wont leave me much time at all to plan the new holiday. If it gets cancelled we will be booking a hot holiday so will need to order some summer clothes.

Has anyone seen or heard any updates on US travel? So stressed!
Thanks

No one seems to know! Thailand is open from Nov 1st as an option Smile

Einszwei · 13/10/2021 11:48

There are rumours that more details will be released today.

I was under the impression an announcement was coming today. For us, it’s not as easy as saying come in such and such a date, it’s what Biden is going to say about kids and vaccinations.

BritWifeInUSA · 14/10/2021 04:09

Hopefully it will be in time for Thanksgiving.

You can come now, you just can’t come directly from Europe unless you are a US citizen, LPR of fall into one of the exception categories. Mexico has been a hot favorite place for Europeans to divert before coming here.

Will Virgin actually cancel your holiday and let you rebook if it’s just a visa issue? I mean, planes are flying. It’s just that you need a visa exemption to enter the US if you’re not a citizen. I thought holiday and flight companies regarded it as your problem if your paperwork isn’t in order.

We are supposed to fly to New York on 4th November so I understand your concern. We've been told we will get a full refund if US isn't open. Its just annoying waiting and not being able to make different plans.

A vida exemption won’t help. It has very little to do with visas. Even H and L visa holders are affected by this and they live and work here in the US, paying taxes and everything. The waivers are NIE waivers and they don’t apply to tourists, only those coming to live and work.

Virgin should rebook people. If the proclamation is still in place, they likely will cancel the flight anyway as there will not be enough demand to fill a plane with just those who can come here directly.

Glad to find this thread for solidarity- we are meant to be going to New York on 11/11 as a long overdue trip for my birthday. Booked it ages ago and I know it’s a first-world problem but I just need to know whether we can go or not. I’m so frustrated with the lack of info from the US.

November 8th is the date that has been announced today by President Biden.

Has anything been said about vaccinations and in particular teenagers?
CMOTDibbler · 15/10/2021 18:31

November 8th for fully vaccinated travellers, under 18 requirements still to be confirmed apparently but expected to be exempt from vaccination according to Reuters

cavalierkingc · 15/10/2021 20:50

thanks everyone, glad we finally have a date to work with!
