Term time day out with 6 year old

We have a random inset day in November and I’d like to take advantage of it with a fun day out with my almost 6 year old (and possibly her little sister, although she could go to nursery).

Initially I was thinking we could go to somewhere like Chessington/ Thorpe park when it would be quieter than usual but theme parks aren’t open on weekdays in the winter.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a good day out near London/ Herts/ Bucks?

Thanks!

London zoo is always fun. Willows farm. Science museum.

Whipsnade Zoo?

Leave your younger one in nursery. Have a nice day out. Try London aquarium and the London eye, plenty of nice places for lunch maybe book the London eye for the morning, lunch (slug and lettuce) then aquarium, a gift shop, then home. Not too much walking, doesn’t matter if it rains.

Legoland, so insufferably busy in peak times, great for 6 year olds.

And not Thorpe park, not much there for 6 year olds.
