Holidays
Campsites in Holland/Belgium

We are planning to get the ferry from Newcastle to Holland and camp next summer. We have 3 kids and would ideally like beaches, places for day trips, supermarket nearby, good cycle routes and a nearby town to go for the occasional evening meal.
We will be away for two weeks. Also considering a week in Holland and a week in Belgium.
Any recommendations?

Duinrell is fabulous. www.duinrell.com/holiday-park/search-and-book
Close to town/beach and onsite theme park/pool complex. We even got great wifi on our camping pitch. I also like Zeeland very much, but have never camped there. Beaches round Schevingen are fab - lots of beach bars/activities.

Also from Duinrell its quite easy to have a day trip to Amsterdam. I've just remembered www.roompot.com/campsites/the-netherlands/zeeland/roompot-beach-resort/campsites/?fh_location=//roompot/en_GB/tab_id%3E{3}/park_filter=552324 Roompot Beach resort. Not close to town but lots of activities, shop, couple of onsite restaurants and a takeaway. The beach is lovely. Bike hire. We didn't camp - had one of their water villas, but there was lots going on and lots of lovely towns within a short drive and the Neeltje Jans delta park built on the flood defence with an aquarium, sealion show, water park etc.

Have a look at the Dutch islands, Terschelling, Texel, Vlieland etc. Very small but beautiful.

Thanks very much both for your suggestions. Will have a good look at the campsites @missambrosia.
The islands look beautiful @edgeware!

Another vote for Duinrell. We were supposed to go for a second time last year, postponed to summer half term 2022. We took our own tent.
About 5 years ago we stayed at De Lisle Bergen in Belgium. Nowhere near the sea but about 45 minutes from Antwerp. It has a big artificial lake with pedaloes and paddle boards. Beach area with the most amazing kids play park complex I have seen. Was really reasonably priced when we went. We caught the train to Antwerp one day and Brussels another. Brussels has lots of museums that are good for children.

Our favourite in Holland was Beekse Bergen because of the Safari park, Speelland and it’s proximity to Efteling. TerSpegelt was good for cycling and had some good eateries nearby. It also has a lakeside beach.

@Ricekrispie22’s suggestion is a good shout too, Brabant in the Netherlands has a lot of nature, camp sites, and attractions, including the Efteling which is lovely for children of many ages. My three year old is obsessed.

This is located in a very beautiful part of the Netherlands, surrounded by nature and with nice things to do in the area. Very close to Belgium, the Van Gogh village of Nuenen and interesting cities such as Den Bosch and Breda not too far away.

And yes, the Efteling too. It’s amazing for children and adults.

Thanks all. We already have Efteling booked for Easter. Very excited about that. A Holland centric year for us!
