Half term travel to Sweden
CrystalTits · 01/10/2021 10:45
My 2 teens are due to fly to Sweden in October half term for a week. I’m finding the covid travel advice confusing now that we’re out of the EU. They’re both 16 and have had their single vaccination. Can anyone help me work out whether they can travel and what I need to prepare for them in advance?

Are they going to visit a parent?
If not, at the moment they can't get in.
As a general rule, foreigners travelling to Sweden from a non-EEA country will be denied entry and rejected. There are exemptions for EEA citizens and a select number of identified countries outside EEA*

@underneaththeash They’re travelling to visit a relative but not a parent. Am desperately hoping that the travel ban may be listed soon but no way of knowing when.
Do you know whether anyone has been circumventing the travel ban by flying to Denmark/Norway instead and travelling into Sweden by train?
Thanks so much for responding

Don't go. I watched a Tiktok (!) earlier. A woman was denied entry and was returned to the UK. She went to see her sister .

My friend took her teens this summer on their British passports, and would have been denied entry if they hadn't also had their (expired) Swedish passports.

This is really useful and confirms my thoughts that it’s not looking likely for half term! Thanks all.

Hi,
I travelled to Sweden this summer to visit a friend. I just travelled through Germany- Sweden bases the entry restrictions on the last country you were in (even if it was a transit country) So as long as you travel through an EU country then it should be fine. You just need a negative test taken in the last 48 hours, even if you’re vaccinated.
