Day 2 test PCR to lateral flow change when?

Does anyone know when this will change to just a lateral flow? We’re booked to turkey 16-23rd October and I’d quite like to start sorting out the paperwork but I think I need to have a day 2 test booked before I complete the passenger locator form?

First trip abroad in Covid times and trying to figure it out!

No, it’s just “late October” that’s all that’s been announced.

You can’t complete a PLF online until 48 hours before your return so it really is something we need to sit and wait on…

Ah ok thanks. Hopefully I can do it whilst I’m away. I know the wifi isn’t great where we’re staying so wanted to get tests booked in advance. Hopefully we’ll know before the 16th

The next travel update is expected next week so you would hope there will be an announcement on this then. If they do not make the change then the following update will be 3 weeks later in the middle of half term.
I go away on 9th October and do not plan ordering my day 2 tests until next weeks govt update.

Oh I had forgotten this was a thing. This will make it far easier to travel now...no worries about needing to find a stupid drop box to drop off the test etc.! I'm assuming we can use Chronomics etc. so literally just order a test before departing, come back, take it and upload results?

Due to go Portugal Friday 8th. They said PCR dropping to antigen would be 'late October'. Very vague.

Shame. I think it'll be too late for me.

Its stating in the press that the 3 weekly travel updates have been scrapped in favour of ad hoc announcements. If this is correct who knows how and when they will make known the date of changing the days 2 test from PCR to LFT. They have promised the change will be later in October so we are wa

watching and waiting for now.

They say the Day 2 testing will change to LFT at the end of October to make it easier for people/families flying back to the UK from abroad for half term. So it sounds like anyone returning around 31st October or at the end of half term can do a LFT instead of PCR. We are flying back from Italy (unless they cancel our flights...again!) on 31st Oct so I'm relying on this!

Hi OP we're flying to Turkey on 16-23 and I'm hoping for a change from PCR to LFT too before the 23rd. Have a great holiday. I hope the weather stays sunny for us.

As usual, they forget about Leicestershire when they make these changes. Our half-term is 18-22 October. We're going away for a few days at the start of the half-term, so will be back on the 20th. I bet the change hasn't come in by then.
