New rules for entering Portugal from UK

Is this true?

“However, the Portuguese Government has reportedly announced that certificates issued by other countries will be accepted for entry with the UK Covid certificate added from October 4.
From October 4, all UK tourists who have been double-vaccinated with an EU approved vaccination will reportedly be allowed into Portugal without taking a pre departure test.
Every passenger who has been fully vaccinated with the approved vaccines of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson will be accepted.

British tourists must be able to show their NHS vaccination certificate to enter Portugal but from October 4 will no longer have to have an EU Covid passport or do a pre-departure test according to SchengenVisaInfo.”

Go to boots and buy them… or you can do them at the airport… not ideal but better than not going?

soundingklaxon · 20/10/2021 22:57

Can you buy them at boots???

We flew from Stansted to Lisbon on Mon. Airline (Ryanair) asked to see proof of vaccination for me and negative test certificate for DS1. Test result not needed for PLF and wasn't asked for on entry.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 14:29

Did they turn up @soundingklaxon?

In terms of Scotland rules, the only difference from England to watch out for is the day 2 tests. Unless ScotGov has announced anything in the last few days, then PCR still required for day 2 test instead of the LFT that will do in England.

soundingklaxon · 21/10/2021 18:37

Thanks for your help- the tests arrived this afternoon but haven't done them yet... will wait for an hour after tea...just in case!

Thanks for letting me know about the difference in tests for people arriving in Scotland- do you think it makes any difference that we land there but immediately drive back to England afterwards? Would we still have to abide by the Scottish rules?

soundingklaxon · 21/10/2021 18:38

wretchedhive how old is your sons? Had he had one vaccine?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 21/10/2021 18:53

I couldn't say for 100% @soundingklaxon but I think you will need to comply with Scottish rules. You have to provide the code for your test when completing your passenger locator form and you might have a problem if you don't have a code for a PCR rest. When do you fly back? I would keep a close eye out on Scottish news on this in case they announce a switch to lateral flow tests. You don't need to order the test until a couple of days before you get back.

Wretchedhive · 22/10/2021 19:19

@soundingklaxon DS1 hasn't had his vaccine yet and he's over 11 so needed proof of negative test. But no test details needed on PLF flying out from Stansted. Understand a test code is needed for return though.

Longdistance · 22/10/2021 22:43

Yes, we’ve just done the PLF and no information needed there about vaccines. We’ve just ordered our tests for return and have the codes.

Vroomed · 23/10/2021 17:46

Arrived in Algarve today from Stansted with jet2.com. Whole process was incredibly efficient. Only asked at check in for adult’s vaccination records. Result of 12 yr olds lateral flow wasn’t requested in UK or Portugal. Glad I only spent £20 on it. Took about an hour to get through passport control at Faro as queue was long. Flight was quick and sun is shining.

Longdistance · 23/10/2021 17:58

@Vroomed see you there. We’re leaving in the morning for Faro. Save us some ☀️ and port 🍷

Cal12345 · 23/10/2021 18:13

Il on the plane now and no checks done, passport find too…. V easy

Longdistance · 23/10/2021 19:47

@Cal12345 which airport was that? We’re flying out of LTN 😬

Cal12345 · 23/10/2021 20:47

Manchester…. Ryanair… landed in Lisbon.. now for passport control here

Cal12345 · 23/10/2021 21:29

Lisbon - just normal passport checks.. no mention of locator form it cobid! Extremely straight forward and wish I hadn’t worried now
